The Green Bay Packers just gave Aaron Rodgers the bag.

On Tuesday, Ian Rapoport dropped the news that the reigning MVP signed a new deal to stay in n to the tune of four years, $200 million. Instantly making Rodgers the highest paid player to ever play the game.

Per Rapoport, “The Packers and MVP QB Aaron Rodgers have agreed to terms on a 4-year, $200M deal that makes him the highest paid player in NFL history … He gets a whopping $153M guaranteed and his cap number goes down. A monstrous commitment by GB for years to come.”

18 months, two MVPs and 12 days of Panchakarma later, Aaron Rodgers got what he wanted all along: more money.

Going into the season, Rodgers was clearly unhappy with his situation in Green Bay. But the Packers gave him 153 million guaranteed reasons why he should finish his career with the team he started with.

Not only does this say a lot about how GB feels about Rodgers, but it’s a seeming indictment on Jordan Love, who the Packers front office traded up to draft in the first round.

Signing Rodgers also gave the team some much needed cap space. Perhaps opening up enough room for Green Bay to lock up the 10-time Pro Bowler’s favorite target, Davante Adams.
