Breaking: Chris Paul Makes Decision On Suns Contract
If Chris Paul is back in Phoenix next season, it will be with a new contract.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the All-NBA point guard is declining his player option for the 2021-22 season. The option is worth $44.2 million. However, Paul is likely to get more guaranteed money by opting out and signing a multi-year contract.
Paul has expressed interest in returning to Phoenix. The Suns are coming off an NBA Finals loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.
However, multiple teams are expected to have interest in Paul.

Suns GM James Jones addressed Paul’s future earlier this week.
“I think (Suns owner) Robert (Sarver) talked about it earlier this week. Chris has a (player) option to pick up or decline. We’ll cover that when we get there. That starts on Monday, free agency, Monday the second (of August), we’ll have a chance to talk with him. We’ll know what his decision is at that point in time. But I think what we have is enticing, I think he likes being here, we like having him here. So I’m confident that we’ll be able to have a conversation, hopefully, in the coming days that will make everyone happy,” he said.
The option is reportedly being declined, so it’s time for the Suns to get to work.
