Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski has missed the past two games due to fractured ribs. He’s trending in the right direction, but he’s not ready to rejoin his teammates just yet.

On Wednesday, the Buccaneers ruled out Gronkowski for Thursday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said Gronkowski made “really good progress” from his rib injury. However, the short week is going to prevent Gronkowski from returning to the gridiron.

Gronkowski isn’t the only notable player who’ll miss Thursday night’s game for the Buccaneers. Star linebacker Lavonte David and second-year safety Antoine Winfield Jr. were ruled out as well.

It’s unfortunate that Gronkowski has to miss at least three games due to this rib injury. He was on pace to have an All-Pro year, hauling in 16 passes for 184 yards and four touchdowns in the first three games this season.

With Gronkowski out for at least one more game, Tampa Bay will need Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard to step up at tight end.

The Buccaneers’ offense looked just fine this past Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, as Tom Brady threw for over 400 yards and five touchdowns. Antonio Brown, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin all had great performances.

We’ll see if the Buccaneers’ offense can stay hot tomorrow night against the Eagles.
