Breaking: Ben Roethlisberger Announces Official Decision

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has officially announced his retirement from the NFL. On Thursday morning, he shared a heartfelt video on social media.

Roethlisberger made sure that he thanked his teammates, coaches and fans in his retirement speech. He made it clear that wearing a Steelers uniform every Sunday was an honor.

“To all my teammates and endless friendships I have gained, I appreciate you and our shared commitment to wearing the black and gold with pride and dignity,” Roethlisberger said. “Putting that jersey on every Sunday with my brothers will always be one of the greatest joys of my life.

“To Steelers Nation, the best fans in all of sports, thank you for accepting me as your quarterback over the years. Football has been a gift, and I thank God for allowing me to play it. Surrounding me with great people and protecting me through the end, with love and honor.”

Roethlisberger will finish his NFL career with 64,088 passing yards and 418 touchdown passes. He’s without a doubt the most prolific passer in Steelers history.

Over the course of his career, Roethlisberger won two Super Bowls and made the Pro Bowl six times. He was also the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2004.

The expectation around the league is that Roethlisberger will be a Hall of Famer in a few years from now.
