Disney+ has given fans a first look at Brandy as she steps back into her glass slippers to play Cinderella once again in Descendants: Rise of Red.

Brandy first played the princess in 1997's Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella opposite Whitney Houston with Whoopi Goldberg and Bernadette Peters.

The film has a special place in many fans hearts and was groundbreaking at the time for its diverse casting. But despite the popularity of Brandy's Cinderella, the film didn't arrive on Disney+ until 2021

In a video posted to Disney+'s Twitter account, Brandy is seen on set as Cinderella, alongside Paolo Montalban, who also played Prince Charming in the 1997 movie.

The post was captioned: "A royal occasion. King Charming (@PaoloMontalban) and Cinderella (@4everBrandy) have joined the upcoming Original movie, #DisneyDescendants: Rise of Red!"

Descendants: Rise of Red will be directed by Jennifer Phang from a screenplay by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer. It is the fourth movie in Disney's popular Descendants franchise.

The plot sees polar opposites Red (the whip-smart and rebellious teenage daughter of the Queen of Hearts, played by Kylie Cantrall) and Chloe (the athletic and booksmart teenage daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming, played by Malia Baker) crossing paths at a momentous celebration in Auradon when unexpected chaos breaks out.

In order to prevent an impending coup, they must join forces to travel back in time, via a magical pocket watch created by the Mad Hatter’s son, to stop an event that would lead to grave consequences.

The Queen of Hearts will be played by Masked Singer judge Rita Ora, while China Anne McClain, Kylie Cantrall, Dara Reneé, Malia Baker, Ruby Rose Turner, Morgan Dudley and Joshua Colley have all been cast.

Descendants: Rise of Red will air on Disney+.
