Bradley Cooper, star of The Hangover trilogy, has said that he would do a fourth instalment "in an instant".

The Hangover was released in 2009, and starred Cooper alongside Ed Helms, Justin Bartha and Zach Galifianakis as they recover from various alcohol-related misadventures. It was followed up by two sequels in 2011 and 2013.

Speaking on The New Yorker Radio Hour podcast, Cooper revealed that his love for the franchise's cast and director, Todd Phillips, meant that he'd be back for more "in an instant".

“I would probably do Hangover IV in an instant,” the Maestro actor said. “Just because I love Todd, I love Zach, I love Ed so much, I probably would.”

While that's good news for fans of the franchise, Cooper had a less positive take on whether Phillips shared the same outlook: “I don’t think Todd is ever going to do that.”

Both Helms and Cooper had previously stated that they wouldn't be interested in a fourth Hangover.

Cooper also added that his upcoming biographical drama Maestro, which follows composer Leo Bernstein, is just as fun as comedy films like The Hangover.

“There’s nothing more fun that I’ve experienced than Maestro and A Star is Born. I wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t," he said.

Cooper starred opposite Lady Gaga in 2018's musical romantic drama; the film won an Academy Award – Best Original Song – for 'Shallow', which both Cooper and Gaga sing.

Cooper's Maestro has generated debate over its use of a prosthetic nose for Bernstein, who was Jewish.

Bernstein's family, however, have said that its usage is fine in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

They wrote: "It happens to be true that Leonard Bernstein had a nice, big nose. Bradley chose to use makeup to amplify his resemblance, and we're perfectly fine with that. We're also certain that our dad would have been fine with it as well."

The film co-stars Carey Mulligan as Felicia Montealegre (Bernstein's wife) and Matt Bomer as David Oppenheim.

Maestro is in UK cinemas now and will be released on Netflix on December 20.
