Boys track: Meyer, Klinger lead Edgewood at WIC Meet

Zane Meyer and Jackson Klinger formed a tough distance duo to help lead Edgewood to third place at the Western Indiana Conference boys track meet on Thursday at Northview.

The host Knights had enough to score 135 points to top Indian Creek (103) and Edgewood (95½) to win a fourth straight title. Owen Valley was seventh with 30 points and boasted a conference champ.

Meyer, who missed most of the season coming off an injury, won the 3,200 in 9:36.56 with Klinger not far behind in 9:41.65. Neither could catch Northview's Jcim Grant in the 1,600 (4:28.54) but Meyers finished in 4:31.67 and Klinger in 4:32.65.

In the 400, Josh Hinson was runner-up in 52.31 and anchored the 1,600 relay to second place by just .64 with a 3:33.98. Both times Indian Creek's Logan Jackson (50.73 in the open 400) came out on top.

Chris Davis was second in the shot put (49-1) but scratched from discus, one of three events the Mustangs didn't score in with pole vault and 110 hurdles.

The Mustangs also saw a handful of fourth-place finishes from Nehemiah Strunk in the long jump (19-5½), Milan Hancock in the 200 (23.78), Landon Beauchamp in the 800 (2:05.51), the 400 relay (46.16) and 3,200 relay (8:41.57). Jacob Waugh was fifth in the 300 hurdles and eighth in long jump while Carl Norris was fifth in high jump.

Owen Valley's highlight was seeing sophomore Noah Hall repeat as high jump champ, reaching 6-4. Eli Anderson was second in the 300 hurdles in 44.43 and fifth in the 110s (17.22).

The Patriots were fifth in the 400 relay (46.78) and 1,600 relay (3:43.04).
