To All the Boys star Lana Condor explains career shift

To All the Boys I've Loved Before star Lana Condor has reflected on why a shift in her career has been nothing but a blessing.

The actress, who made her acting debut starring as Jubilee in X-Men: Apocalypse, is most known for playing teenager Lara Jean Covey in the To All the Boys I've Loved Before trilogy.

But it is her string of current projects, including Valiant One, which Condor believes has seen her take the next step in her career.

In an exclusive interview with Digital Spy to promote her latest film, Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken, Condor said: "The last couple of movies that I finished, in the past year, I did a war film which is very different to anything that I've done, I did a Looney Tunes live-action hybrid film where I play a lawyer, and I just wrapped on a movie where I play a 27-year-old nurse.

"In the past year, the movies that I've been working on that haven't come out yet are exactly what you said, it feels like the next step in my career."

Condor also opened up about playing teenage roles, saying she's excited to move in a more grown up direction.

She said: "I do love playing young adult roles, but at the same time, I'm trying to expand my horizon and push myself and challenge myself and play roles that are age-accurate to my truest age which is 26.

"This year, most of the films that I have shot, have all been adult roles, but I'm really excited to see how that's received in terms of bridging the gap.

"I am well aware that I am mostly known for me being a teenager, and I'm really excited to show a different side to myself, maybe a more mature side to myself."

Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken is released in cinemas on June 30.
