Boys Lacrosse: Chenango Valley, Johnson City capture Section 4 championships

Chenango Valley rallied from a two-goal deficit late in the third quarter to beat visiting Chenango Forks, 8-5, in the Section 4 Class D boys lacrosse championship game Thursday night.

Top-seeded CV scored the game's final five goals over the last minute of the third quarter and the fourth quarter.

Nate Marinaro led the Warriors with four goals. Allessandro Testani scored two, including one with 8:45 remaining to break a 5-5 deadlock. Aiden Granger contributed four assists and Hiras Constantios had a goal and three assists.

The teams split in the regular season, with Chenango Valley winning 11-10 to open the season and defending sectional champion Forks (10-6) coming back with a 15-6 victory May 3.

Up Next: Chenango Valley (14-4) will take on either the Section 5 or Section 6 champion in the regional final June 1 at Maine-Endwell High School.

Class C: Johnson City 9, Maine-Endwell 8

Second-seeded Johnson City led by three goals heading into the final quarter and held on to beat top-seeded Maine-Endwell in the Section 4 Class C championship game at M-E.

It was the second straight one-goal win for JC against Maine-Endwell following the Wildcats' 10-9 victory to close the regular season.

Defending Section 4 champ M-E finished at 7-10.

Up Next: Johnson City (5-12) will play either the Section 5 or Section 6 champion in a regional final June 1 at Maine-Endwell.
