Boyfriend arrested in New Orleans death of woman whose murder was filmed, shared online

A New Orleans man has been apprehended after police say he killed his long-term girlfriend, whose slaying was filmed and shared widely on social media.

BJ Brown, 32, was arrested in Tennessee, where he allegedly shot a cop after police say he killed his girlfriend, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation tweeted Wednesday.

Brown on Monday morning in New Orleans allegedly shot and killed 48-year-old Cassandra Jones, originally of Mississippi, with whom he was in a long-term and allegedly abusive relationship, NOLA.com reports.

The shooting that led to the death of the mom of three was captured in a disturbing video that was distributed and widely seen on social media, according to the outlet. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Following the murder, Brown allegedly then fled to Tennessee, the paper reports.

He is accused of having shot an officer — who was not identified but as of Tuesday night was in stable condition, according to police — in the Nashville-area town of Erin, before retreating to the woods, according to NOLA.com.

In New Orleans, Brown will likely be charged with second-degree murder, while the TBI suggested he’ll be charged with attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer in the latter shooting.
