Bowie softball player Anya German voted Austin-area Girls Athlete of the Week

Bowie softball player Anya German, who drove in four runs to lead the Bulldogs past Lake Travis, knocking the Cavaliers out of first place in District 26-6A and into a second-place tie with Bowie, was voted the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-Area Girls Athlete of the Week for April 15-20.

German, who hit a double and a home run, received 69% of the vote. Smithville softball pitcher Addison Otto, Liberty Hill softball player Rylee Slimp, Vista Ridge softball's Brooke Wells and Pflugerville softball player Braelynn Williams also were candidates. Llano softball pitcher Skylar Brown won the previous poll, for April 8-13.

The American-Statesman will have a weekly vote for Girls Athlete of the Week and Boys Athlete of the Week throughout the academic year.
