Bourne write-in vote counts finalized. Here's who won
BOURNE — Town Clerk Barry Johnson late Wednesday afternoon announced the slew of write-in candidates that filled the Tuesday ballot, which featured six town government slots with no candidates.
Overall, there were 191 write-in candidates during Tuesday balloting, with many receiving numerous votes across the spectrum of vacant terms. The write-ins were hand-counted by poll workers and top vote getters were determined by Johnson’s office.
Kathleen Quintal got 276 write-ins for a vacant School Committee term.
Former moderator / Select Board member Donald Pickard received 15 write-in tallies for constable. He is a Bourne Recreation Authority member.
Board of Health write-ins who prevailed are Margaret Reali (142 votes) and Miguel Prieto (176). There were two health board vacancies.
Amy Sharpe, a Recreation Committee member, tallied 129 votes for the vacant Bourne Public Library trustee term.
Former Bourne Historical Society President Diane Flynn secured 10 write-ins for the military veteran term on the Community Center trustee board.
Town Clerk Barry Johnson has contacted all the apparent winners, Assistant Town Clerk Mary Fernandes said. As of 1 p.m. Friday, two have come in to the office to be sworn in: Pickard and Prieto, she said.
