Border Collie's Guilty Response to Being Caught Sitting on the Coffee Table Is Pure Gold
Raising any dog can take a lot of work, no matter what breed they are or what they like to do. Even the laziest, smallest dogs require careful care and daily enrichment, but there are a few high-maintenance dog breeds that are infamous for giving themselves something to do whenever you don't. One of those breeds is the Border Collie!
Mal is just one of these dogs who's gone viral on TikTok for her unwavering Border Collie spirit. She always finds ways to make mundane moments fun and challenging, but this doesn't always sit well with her mom. Even so, she finds ways to laugh at her girl's daring attitude, just like she did when she posted this silly mid-August TikTok video. Mal proves that she can get comfy anywhere she likes!
OMG--naughty girl! Mal knows that the coffee table is for items to sit on, not dogs, but she's willing to try her luck anyway. And why not? It looks like the perfect size for her to perch on while she surveys her kingdom, but this Border Collie's mom draws a line at the furniture, just like any dog owner would!

Unsurprisingly, Mal isn't the only rambunctious Border Collie who makes themselves comfortable wherever they like. A commenter named Sarah shared, "We came home one time and my Border Collie was asleep on top of the fridge. These dogs are no joke." LOL! I wouldn't know how to react if I found my dog on top of the fridge, but I'm 100% sure that I would take a video before asking them to get down. Even if that's a naughty thing for a dog to do, it's also impressive!
Any dog can hop on the coffee table, but Mal had the nerve to do it while her mom was just a few feet away. Odds are, she was acting out as a way of getting her mom's attention, but it's not something she'll want to get in the habit of doing.
Why Are Border Collies So Energetic?
It's no secret that Border Collies are some of the most energetic dogs out there, but why is this the case? It has a lot to do with what these dogs were bred for. They're herding dogs, which means that they're used to running around the pasture for hours on end. Their natural state of being is focused and alert, and they feel the most satisfied when they've herded everyone to their rightful places.
Other herding dogs, like German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois, also need lots of physical and mental stimulation to thrive. These dogs love having a job to do, and they won't hesitate to give themselves a job if you don't! Even so, hopping on a coffee table seems to be a more individualized approach to herding and surveying your land. Whatever works, Mal!
