Bootleggers, gangsters and flappers can imbibe specialty cocktails at 'Bootlegger's Bash'

SOUTH BEND — The History Museum and the Studebaker National Museum present “Bootlegger’s Bash” from 6 to 10 p.m. April 26 at 897 Thomas St.

Attendees can dance, drink and eat like they’re on Gatsby’s VIP list at this Roaring ’20s-themed event. Live music will be offered by Truth in Jazz and Gramophone DJ Jack Shellac.

Members of the local theater group Shades of Orange will wander the crowd improvising as prohibitionists and imbibers.

Drinks will be available for sale at several bars, where specialty cocktails with spirits provided by Journeyman Distillery can be purchased. Food will also be sold.

Period attire is encouraged, and those interested may enter a costume contest. No type of replica weapon will bepermitted.

All galleries in both museums will be open.

Roaring ’20s programming includes vintage dancing demonstrations; a scavenger hunt; short talks on topics such as cars of the Jazz Age, the history of prohibition and mixology; a selfie station; a costume contest and more.

Must be 21 or older to attend.

Tickets are $30 ($40 at the door). VIP tickets are $100 and include access to all programming, an open bar, private VIP lounge, heavy hors d’oeuvres and more.
