The Boogeyman star Vivien Lyra Blair shares unusual reaction to mosnter

Stephen King's The Boogeyman is just days away from scaring fans on the big screen and actress Vivien Lyra Blair has opened up on seeing the monster on set.

Despite the well-known fear attached to the Boogeyman character, the Obi-Wan Kenobi star revealed filming with the 'monster' was "really funny" at times.

Vivien plays Sawyer Harper in the new flick, alongside Yellowjackets' Sophie Thatcher who plays her sister Sadie, while Chris Messina joins the film as dad Will Harper. The story follows the family as they struggle to cope with the loss of their mother and his wife, while being haunted by a terrifying creature.

As the monster was being created in post-production, actors on set had to react to a variety of props when filming.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Vivien said: "I feel like a quarter of the way through shooting was when I originally saw him. They had a VFX head and it was really funny."

She added: "One day we were filming a scene in the kitchen and then they just brought it in, and they were just like waving it around on a broomstick.

"I wanted to see it, but then I was like, 'can I have the tennis ball please, I would like to act to the tennis ball please.'"

The Boogeyman released its first terrifying trailer earlier this year, and horror fans cannot wait to see it.

The film also stars The Suicide Squad's David Dastmalchian as Lester Billings.

In the trailer, Lester can be seen giving a drawing to Will as he says: "This is the thing that comes for your kids when you are not paying attention..."

Horror lovers only have to wait a few more days to see the film and see if the family survives The Boogeyman; however based on the fan reaction of those that saw a sneak peek at CinemaCon, it will be a scary one.

The Boogeyman will be released in cinemas on June 2.
