Jeremy and Jay Bond, the namesake brothers behind Cary’s popular Bond Brothers Beer Company, will bring a new taproom concept to the growing Raleigh Iron Works development.

The brothers’ NOCO — or No Company — taproom will join the Salvage Yard, a three-warehouse, roughly 100,000-square-feet space at Raleigh Iron Works, the mixed-used development located on Atlantic Avenue north of downtown Raleigh, that is being built by developer Grubb Ventures.

“The vision and scope of the Salvage Yard project is impressive,” the Bond brothers said in a news release announcing the project. “To be included in this is extremely exciting. We look forward to bringing what we know and love to this new destination.”

NOCO will be a new brand from the brothers, independent of the existing Bond Brothers beer brand that has two locations in Cary and is known for its world-class sours and barrel-aged beers, Jeremy Bond told The News & Observer via email.

The new concept will feature “a wide selection of craft beer brewed on-site” under the NOCO brand, plus “coffee, tea, craft cocktails, wine and a light food menu focused on locally sourced goods and sandwiches,” the news release said.

The taproom space will “will offer over 6,000 square feet of indoor space for brewing and seating along with an abundance of outdoor seating options for visitors to experience,” the release said. Greenery will be highlighted throughout the space.

Live music and a concert series are also on tap at the new project, with the brothers leveraging their existing music venue location, Eastside, to bring entertainment to the development, the release said.

Salvage Yard tenants at Raleigh Iron Works

Salvage Yard will be located across the street from the larger, main Raleigh Iron Works development, which covers 19 acres in total and will offer apartments, office space, retail and more. The project, developed in partnership between Grubb Ventures and real estate firm Jamestown, is expected to begin opening in phases later this year.

Initial tenants at Raleigh Iron Works include popular Durham-based restaurants Ponysaurus Brewing and Eastcut Sandwich Bar, both of which are expanding to Raleigh as part of the development, plus Andia’s Ice Cream, which will expand to the development from existing locations in Cary.

Salvage Yard will be connected to Raleigh Iron Works by pedestrian pathways, and will feature “uniquely designed green space.” The development will “will foster community and invite guests to linger and enjoy a mix of dining and entertainment options.”

Triangle Rock Club was previously announced as Salvage Yard’s first tenant, bringing a “39,000 square foot world-class climbing and fitness complex” to the development.

“We are excited to have NOCO join Salvage Yard alongside Triangle Rock Club,” McKenzie Wilson, director of leasing for Grubb Ventures, said in the news release. “We think their creativity and commitment to engaging the community makes them a natural fit in the entertainment district we’re creating.”

Site work at Salvage Yard is expected to begin this spring.
