The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth received a bomb threat Thursday that prompted the evacuation of the Research and Education Building, according to an email sent to the campus community.

UNT Health Science Center announced on Facebook at 2:50 p.m. that it was evacuating the Research and Education Building (RES), calling it a “red alert.”

Just before 4 p.m., the HSC said it was safe to reenter the building.

In the email, the HSC said campus police worked with Fort Worth police bomb squad and the facilities department to clear the building, prompting the all-clear.

Dallas College Richland Campus, Weatherford College and Austin Community College all had bomb threat-related evacuations Thursday, as well, according to KTVT-TV (CBS 11).

The FBI told KTVT-TV it “is aware of bomb threats received by multiple colleges and universities. The FBI takes all potential threats seriously and we regularly work with our law enforcement partners to determine their credibility. As always, we would like to remind members of the public that if they observe anything suspicious to report it to law enforcement immediately.”
