Bologna players in Ferguson tribute

Bologna players paid tribute to stricken Scot Lewis Ferguson as they boosted the club's Champions League hopes with a stunning Serie A win at Roma on Monday night.

Ferguson's team-mates took to the pitch at the Stadio Olimpico carrying his number 19 shirt in a show of support, and also held it aloft in post-match celebrations.

Scotland midfielder Ferguson has been a driving force in Bologna's stellar season but is now watching from the sidelines after undergoing surgery on an ACL injury that looks set to ruin his Euro 2024 dream.

Bologna's win put them seven points clear of fifth-place Roma, who have a game in hand.
