Cornish Pirates forward Hugh Bokenham has agreed a new contract with the Championship club.

The 22-year-old Australian has spent the past season at the club and has been a regular in the Pirates side since his arrival.

Prior to joining Pirates, Bokenham spent time with Sydney-based Super Rugby side Waratahs and is a former Australia Under-18 player.

He is the first Pirates player to agree new terms for next season amid uncertainty over the future of the club.

Earlier this month, Pirates owner Dicky Evans revealed all players contracted for next season would have a break clause in their agreements at the end of 2024.

Long-time club patron Evans' funding will cease at the end of the year as second-tier sides continue to try to find an agreeable deal over the future of the professional game with the Rugby Football Union.

Long-serving players such as Kyle Moyle, Marlen Walker and Jack Andrew have already announced their plans to retire at the end of this season.
