Players on the Boise State football team are hoping to raise $5,000 a month after announcing the launch of the Boise NIL Club on Thursday.

More than 50 players came together to create the club, which is described on its website as an online community that gives fans the chance to financially support team members and interact with players.

These Broncos are asking fans to make a monthly financial commitment of any size. In return, fans will have access to member-only message boards and chat rooms, and digital meet-and-greets with players and other Boise NIL Club members. They’ll also have access to player-generated content, such as question-and-answer sessions, film breakdowns, practice updates and recruiting stories.

Boise State players teamed up with YOKE, a digital platform that allows athletes to launch an online community behind a paywall. All players were invited to join the club, according to boisenilclub.com, and all proceeds will be split evenly between the players.

Fans who donate at least $25 a month will also receive a Boise State jersey, according to the website.

Legislation was passed in July 2021 that allows college athletes to monetize their name, image and likeness. Several players have signed individual endorsement deals.

Boise State (2-1) will try to extend its winning streak to three games Friday at UTEP (7 p.m., CBS Sports Network).

After losing to Oregon State in the season opener, Boise State’s defense has been dominant in back-to-back wins over New Mexico and UT Martin. The Lobos and Skyhawks were both held to less than 30 rushing yards.

Boise State running back George Holani had his best performance of the season last weekend against UT Martin. He ran for more than 100 yards for the first time since November 2021 and also scored a pair of touchdowns.

UTEP (1-3) is coming off a 27-10 loss to New Mexico. The Miners trailed 20-3 by halftime and turned the ball over seven times.

Boise State fans should recognize several names on the Miners’ depth chart. Starting quarterback Gavin Hardison and top running back Ronald Awatt are back after having played at Albertsons Stadium last season. The Broncos cruised to a 54-13 win.
