Body parts of Yonkers residents found in Long Island case, search warrant issued

Police are continuing to investigate several locations on Long Island after the body parts of two Yonkers residents were found scattered across Suffolk County last week.

The Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad said search warrants were issued at 25 Railroad Ave. in Amityville Monday after body parts were found at Southards Pond Park in Babylon on Feb. 29.

Police say a student was walking to school Thursday around 8:40 a.m. when she discovered a severed arm at Seagal Boulevard between Park and Mason avenues. Other body parts, including a severed leg, were found at the park shortly after.

Police say the victims were a 59-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man, but their names will not be released as the investigation is ongoing. The victims' last home address was in Yonkers, but police say it is unclear how long they lived there or where they were last seen.

No human remains were found at 25 Railroad Ave. but other remains were found in a wooded area across from 103 Lakeway Drive in West Babylon and Bethpage State Park on Wednesday, March 5.

Police say the deaths appear to be isolated and pose no threat to the public.

Anyone with information relating to the incident is asked to call the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
