Body found in northwest Iowa, reports ID it as missing trucker David Schultz

Police have found a body in northwest Iowa near the intersection where a missing man's semi-truck was found in November.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation said Wednesday a person found a body in a field at about 2 p.m. The DCI acknowledged the location is near where missing trucker David Schultz's truck was found without him in it on Nov. 21 but did not identify the body as him.

KCCI reports his wife, Sarah, said the body is Schultz's and police identified him by his boots. Schultz was a 53-year-old father of two from Wall Lake.

Schultz’s semi-tractor was found abandoned on a rural highway near Sac City in northwest Iowa, its trailer still filled with the piglets he was transporting. Police found Schultz’s wallet and phone inside his truck and his jacket on the side of the road.

Hundreds of volunteers subsequently searched for Schultz after his disappearance and rewards were offered for information on his whereabouts.
