Body and car found in California lake amid search for missing teen Kiely Rodni: report

A volunteer diving team claims to have found a body and a car in Prosser Lake in Truckee, Calif., near where 16-year-old Kiely Rodni disappeared earlier this month.

Authorities haven’t confirmed the identity of the body.

The finding on Sunday by the search and recovery dive team Adventures With Purpose was reported by local news station KCRA. Adventures with Purpose also referenced the finding in a Facebook post.

Adventures With Purpose began searching for Kiely on Friday and employed sonar technology in its efforts, according to KCRA.

Kiely was reported missing on Aug. 6 after attending a party with between 200 and 300 juveniles and young adults near the Prosser Family Campground outside of Truckee, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

The teenager’s silver 2013 Honda CR-V also went missing, officials said.

At a press conference Monday, Nevada County Sheriff Captain Sam Brown said authorities would be “more limited” in their work on the investigation after “astronomical” efforts failed to uncover much information.

“We are still looking for any clues, videos, tips, any information to help us to put pieces together and help us to direct where we’re going and how we’re going to continue to do a search,” Brown said at the time. “We are moving into a more limited but continuous search and rescue effort.”

Officials described Kiely as being 5-foot-7 and 118 pounds, with blond hair and hazel eyes.

Truckee is located about 30 miles southeast of Reno, Nevada.
