Bobby Bowden Announces He’s Been Diagnosed With Terminal Medical Condition

Legendary Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden announced some heartbreaking news on Wednesday afternoon.

Bowden and his wife, Ann, announced that he has been diagnosed with a terminal medical condition. The Hall of Fame coach, who turns 92 years old in November, said he is “at peace.”

“I’ve always tried to serve God’s purpose for my life, on and off the field, and I am prepared for what is to come,” Bowden said in a statement shared with the Democrat. “My wife Ann and our family have been life’s greatest blessing.”

The Tallahassee Democrat reported Bowden’s health declined after he tested positive for COVID-19 in October 202o.

“Hospitalized in late June for five days, Bowden has struggled to regain his strength,” the article stated. “He has been under supervised care and is resting comfortably at his Killearn Estates home.”

“I feel fine but I can’t do much,” Bowden told the Democrat just over two weeks ago.

Bobby Bowden spent 33 years as Florida State’s head coach, spanning from 1976 to 2009. He won two national championships during that time, with the first coming in 1993 and the last in 1999.

He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
