Bluey’s Banned ‘Dad Baby’ Episode Is Now Available to Watch — Find Out Where

Big news for little ones (and their parents): A long-missing episode of Bluey is now available to watch Stateside.

“Dad Baby,” a Season 2 installment of the beloved animated series, can be viewed at Bluey‘s official YouTube channel (or via the embedded video above) as of Wednesday. It’s currently the only Bluey episode missing from Disney+’s offering of the series.

In the seven-minute outing, Bingo finds the baby carrier that her parents once used while taking her on walks in the park, prompting Bluey to have her dad wear the carrier and act as if he’s pregnant with baby Bingo. After some pretend play, the episode ends with Bandit “giving birth” to Bingo (with the help of a neighbor) in an inflatable pool outside.

Bluey creator Joe Brumm previously told The Hollywood Reporter that he often gets pushback — from some combination of “the ABC [Australian Broadcasting Corporation], the BBC and sort of Disney through the BBC” — about elements of Bluey that may not be appropriate for a preschool audience, but he admitted that some network notes ultimately go untaken.

“You’ve gotta be really careful in preschool. There are two categories [of things that won’t fly],” he said. “There’s things that are going to get a kid hurt, and I rarely have an argument for that. The other one is more about taste — it’s what’s appropriate and what’s offensive. So, definitely lots of words have to get changed, and then behaviors and concepts get dulled down. And eventually I would just hit these walls, and sometimes I’d say, ‘Look, I can’t change this. This is too funny.’ Or, ‘I like it too much.’ And so, we’d just be like, ‘Well, we just won’t show that entire episode or that scene or that sequence.’ Some of them, like ‘Dad Baby,’ for instance, doesn’t get shown in America. But what are you going to do, not make ‘Dad Baby’? I love it.”

Bluey is having an especially buzzy spring after the release of the super-sized special “The Sign” earlier this month. (Read our full recap.) That was followed by a surprise installment — fittingly titled “Surprise!” — on April 21, which ended with (spoiler alert!) a time jump that showed older versions of Bandit, Chilli and Bluey.
