"That Little Ol' Band from Texas" — more famously known as ZZ Top — is coming to town this summer as part of PromoWest Productions' 40th anniversary concert series.

The band, which appeared at the Palace Theatre in 2017, is to perform at KEMBA Live! on Aug. 27. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets, which cost $64.50 for genera- admission lawn seating and $125 for platinum seating, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. To purchase tickets, go to promowestlive.com/columbus/kemba-live.

ZZ Top was formed in 1969 by the melding of two previous bands — vocalist-guitarist Billy Gibbons' Moving Sidewalks and drummer Frank Beard and bassist-vocalist Dusty Hill's American Blues.

Synonymous with their bluesy boogie rock, Gibbons and Hill's beards, hotrods and spinning guitars, ZZ Top has released 15 studio albums and sold approximately 50 million records worldwide.

Their hits include "La Grange," "Tush," "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Sharp Dressed Man" and "Legs." They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

For more than half a century, ZZ Top consisted of Gibbons, Beard and Hill, until Hill's death in 2021, making them the longest-running band with an unchanged lineup in the history of popular music. In accordance with Hill's wishes, he was replaced by their longtime guitar tech, Elwood Francis.
