The upcoming BLUE LOCK movie has confirmed a UK release date for this summer.

Officially titled BLUE LOCK THE MOVIE -EPISODE NAGI-, the film acts as a spin-off of the anime series and focuses on character Nagi Seishiro as he discovers his hidden football talents.

It has now been confirmed that the movie will hit UK cinemas on July 5, with both subtitled and dubbed versions.

The original anime show, which is based on the manga of the same name, focuses on students competing in the BLUELOCK programme to become the world's top football striker and lead the Japan Men's National Team to World Cup victory.

Being eliminated from the programme ends their careers, however, as they're locked out of ever playing for the national team.

The movie will see Nagi head to "a world he’s never known" as he's invited to the BLUELOCK project when his prodigious skills are unearthed.

The synopsis reads: “'That’s a hassle.' That was second-year high schooler Nagi Seishiro’s favourite phrase as he lived his dull life. Until Mikage Reo, a classmate who dreamed of winning the World Cup, discovered Nagi’s hidden skill, inspiring him to play soccer and share his outstanding talent.

"One day, he receives an invitation to the mysterious BLUE LOCK Project. What awaits him there is an encounter with the finest strikers assembled from across the country. Nagi’s dream of becoming the best, alongside Reo, will take this prodigy to a world he’s never known.

"A prodigy can only be shaped when someone discovers him….now, striker Nagi Seishiro’s incredible talent and persona will set the soccer world ablaze," it adds.

The original BLUE LOCK series first premiered in late 2022, and is based on the manga series by Muneyuki Kaneshiro, itself first released in 2018.

BLUE LOCK THE MOVIE -EPISODE NAGI- will be released in UK cinemas on July 5. Blue Lock season one is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
