Baseball

COLUMBUS NORTH 3, BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 2: The Panthers (12-6, 2-2) looked like they might have another no-hit miracle rally in them in the top of the seventh, but the No. 6 Bull Dogs (15-4, 3-1) hung on for a key CI victory. South trailed 3-1 heading to its last at-bat. A walk, fielder's choice, an error at third and a walk loaded the bases with one out. A passed ball scored a run and Sam Giles took second on defensive indifference as courtesy runner Teddy Kroeger sat on third. But the CN reliever got a fly to right too short for a tag-up and then a pop to first to end it. South had tied it 1-1 in the third before giving up two in the fourth.

OWEN VALLEY 9, INDIAN CREEK 4: Patriots (11-5, 6-1) stayed in second place in WIC play. They trailed 5-2 before a nine-run bottom of the fifth turned things around. OV was outhit 13-7, but drew nine walks. Kalyn Greene had three RBI, Taylor Monroe had a homer and two RBI and Andi Burkhart drove in two.
