‘Bloodthirsty’ dogs tear away walker’s clothes, rip off her ears and eat them: lawsuit

A Texas woman who worked her way through college with dog-walking gigs says two new clients — a German shepherd mix and a pit bull mix — savagely attacked her when she entered their Dallas-area home to take them on a stroll shortly before Christmas.

NBC News reports that a million-dollar lawsuit filed by Jacqueline Claire Durand describes a mauling that began when the 22-year-old dog walker opened the house’s front door. The dogs, Lucy and Bender, allegedly knocked the woman off-balance, causing her to drop her phone.

“Then, the Dogs violently attacked her head and face — mauling her catastrophically,” the suit claims. “The Dogs were so violent and bloodthirsty that they pulled all of Jacqueline’s clothes off, including her blue jeans.”

According to the report, the dog tore off parts of the woman’s face, including both her ears, which they ate.

Durand had previously met the dogs, though the attack happened the first time she came to walk them. She is suing the dogs’ owners for negligence. The pets were reportedly not in kennels when Durand arrived on Dec. 23 to take them outside.

The dogs’ owners allegedly knew the animals were territorial. A sign at the home’s entrance asked visitors to text rather than knocking on the door due to “Crazy Dogs.”

A judge ordered Lucy and Bender to be euthanized, but the dogs’ death sentences are under appeal. Durand has undergone multiple surgeries and continues on a “day-by-day journey,” according to her attorney.
