Blizzard is hosting a limited-time Overwatch 2 Venture trial ahead of the multiplayer game’s Season 10, and you’ll probably want to check it out. The Venture trial begins on March 28, 2024, and runs through March 31, 2024, and everyone can play as Venture during that time in any mode, except competitive matches.

Blizzard also shared Venture’s kit, which is unique among damage dealers. Venture uses an excavator gun that fires bursts of energy, but they can also burrow underground and become invulnerable for a short time before popping up again and dealing damage. Their movement skill pushes enemies back, which, like Lifeweaver’s Life Grip, sounds like it’ll take some good communication to use effectively, and their ultimate sends out a series of shockwaves that damage enemies nearby.

Venture’s passives are the really interesting bit. They deal more damage with melee attacks, so dash-and-smash combos seem like they’ll be a thing, and Venture generates their own shields after using abilities. Combined with the introduction of passive healing, it seems like Venture has some strong self-sustaining potential – not something you’d expect from a damage hero, but totally in keeping with modern Overwatch 2.

Venture debuts permanently in Overwatch 2 Season 10, which should go live around April 16, 2024. New changes to battle pass and progression mean that any player who completes the tutorial can recruit them without buying the battle pass or grinding challenges.
