'BlackBerry' Will Make You Nostalgic for That Tiny Keyboard

BlackBerry

For years, many of us had a BlackBerry and were proud of it. The first of its kind, the Blackberry was the debut smartphone, the precursor to Apple's iPhone or the Samsung Galaxy. But it wasn't long before the iconic phone crashed and burned. By January 2022, the BlackBerry ceased production and the once iconic smartphone was no more. Now, AMC's limited series BlackBerry—a repackaging of a 2023 movie of the same name—is recounting the history of the phone, from its glory days (and its memorable keyboard) to its nosedive.

Here's everything we know about the limited series, including its release date and cast.

What is BlackBerry about?

BlackBerry tells the story of the Blackberry, the world's first smartphone, from its creation and meteoric rise to its catastrophic end. The popular phone with its comically tiny keyboard once held 45% of the cell-phone market. Today, it holds 0% with the product no longer in production.

Is BlackBerry based on a book?

Blackberry is adapted from the book Losing the Signal: The Untold Story Behind the Extraordinary Rise and Spectacular Fall of BlackBerry by Jacquie McNish and Sean Silcoff.

Wasn't BlackBerry a movie?

Yes. BlackBerry was released as a movie earlier this year. It's now a three-part limited series which includes more than 15 minutes of never-before-seen footage.
