“I give thanks that Presiding Bishop Curry will be able to visit us this year, and I look forward to welcoming him to our partnership,” said the Right Rev. Sean Rowe, bishop of the Episcopal Dioceses of Western New York & Northwestern Pennsylvania.

The Constitution and Canons of the Episcopal Church charge the presiding bishop with visiting every diocese, according to the article. Curry has made official visits to the western New York diocese, which includes Buffalo, but this will be his first trip to the northwestern Pennsylvania diocese.

The presiding bishop had been hospitalized earlier this year for internal bleeding and underwent surgery in September to have his right adrenal gland and an attached mass removed, according to the Episcopal Church's Office of Public Affairs. The Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania said Curry learned just last week that he would be able to travel to Erie in December.
