Birthdays, Earth Days and Spring-Cleaning Day: 7 events for this weekend

Apr. 18—I like to think of Earth Day as the planet's unofficial birthday. But without the candles, because 4.54 billion of them seems like a bad idea. Speaking of birthdays ... the Duke City is celebrating its 318th this weekend. That seems a bit more manageable.

Picking up the Pecos

Celebrate Albuquerque's 318th birthday on Saturday, April 20, from noon to 4 p.m. in Old Town. The event is free to attend and will include birthday must-haves such as face painting, entertainment, food and more.

Mud, sweat and cheers

Help keep the Historic Old San Ysidro Church in Corrales in tip-top shape from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20, for the Mudding and Spring-Cleaning Day. Learn to apply the adobe plaster, spruce up the grounds and more, while the Corrales Historical Society treats volunteers to breakfast and lunch. What a circus

Wise Fool New Mexico is kicking off its 2024 season with "Beyond the Binary" at 7 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 20, and 5 p.m. Sunday, April 21. The show explores "our relationship to gender and liberation through an immersive, magical circus extravaganza." Wise Fool is located at 1131 Siler Road, Suite B in Santa Fe. Earth Day for all

Take in the state's first-ever statewide Earth Day Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, at the Sid Cutter Pavilion at Balloon Fiesta Park, 9401 Balloon Museum Drive. To market, to market

The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is hosting its Spring Arts Market from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 20. The courtyard transform into a marketplace featuring the works of over 40 Native artists.
