WEST LAFAYETTE − WE R WL, a nonprofit organization in West Lafayette, recently had a Community Cleanup Day.

Trash bins were made available for village residents to dispose of household trash and scrap, resulting in a record-breaking turnout, per a press release from the group. Bins were filled within the first four hours and more than 150 tires were collected for proper disposal.

"We are thrilled by the overwhelming support from our community," said organization President Jessica Beckett in a press release. "This Cleanup Day exemplifies the spirit of collaboration and civic responsibility that defines West Lafayette."

Beckett said the success of the event wouldn't have been possible without the dedication of WE R WL members, the 2023 West Lafayette Homecoming Court, Girl Scouts, West Lafayette Dollar General store employees and countless residents who contributed their time and resources.

Looking ahead, Backett said there will be another Community Cleanup Day this fall. Information on the clean up day and other activities can be found on the group's Facebook page.
