Bindi Irwin Shares Touching Throwback to Honor Late Father Steve

Bindi Irwin

Bindi Irwin was one of many people around the world celebrating her father, Steve Irwin, on Nov. 15, which is internationally known as Steve Irwin Day.

To mark the occasion, Bindi took to Instagram, posting a photo of herself when she was a little girl. In the picture, Steve smiles at the camera while holding Bindi, who rests her cheek on his shoulder with her eyes closed.

She wrote alongside the photo, "November 15 • Steve Irwin Day To the world, he will be remembered as the greatest Wildlife Warrior. To our family, he will be remembered as our world."

Many people celebrated Steve with Bindi, leaving kind notes or memories about him in the comments. One wrote, "I genuinely believe if he was around, the world would be a far better place. Natures strongest voice is sorely missed :(."

"Such a beautiful picture Bindi. ❤️🥹 There’s a lot to be said about the fact that he died doing the work that he loved, that he lived for. I’m sure there are very few people in the world that can say the same….," said another.

A third wrote to Bindi, "The world loved him and the world loves your beautiful family! Thank you for doing what you do every day. He is proud of you- absolutely not doubt about it."

Steve Irwin Day is reportedly celebrated on Nov. 15 as it is the birthday of Harriet the Galapagos tortoise, whom Steve allegedly loved dearly as he helped care for her at the Australia Zoo. Harriet lived to be 175 years old, passing away in June 2006, only a few months before Steve's death on Sept. 4, 2006.

Bindi was eight years old when her father passed away, while her younger brother, Robert Irwin, was almost three at the time. Together with their mother Terri Irwin, the family continues to work with Australia Zoo on conservation efforts.
