The Barbie movie soundtrack is proving to be almost as star-studded as its cast list, with Billie Eilish being the latest pop star to announce a song to accompany the Margot Robbie film.

The singer-songwriter shared what looks like the single artwork (or at least a doodle) for her soundtrack song 'What Was I Made For?' on Instagram.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! 'What Was I Made For?; Coming out July 13th at 7am PT!!!!!!!" she wrote. "We made this song for Barbie and it means the absolute worrrllld to me. This movie is gonna change ur lives and hopefully the song will to."

She teased: "Get ready to sob!"

Billie tagged her brother and frequent songwriting/producing partner Finneas in the post, to confirm his involvement with the song.

Beyond that, a short snippet of the song has been posted to TikTok. We don't get any lyrics, just a little bit of a piano.

Between the brief audio and the pensive title, we wonder if this will be an introspective ballad from the point of view of a plastic doll, after all she has given us a warning that it will tug at the heartstrings.

So far, we've had multiple songs from the soundtrack drop: Dua Lipa's disco-tinged 'Dance the Night', Colombian singer Karol G's single 'Watiti', BBC Sound of 2022 winner PinkPantheress' song 'Angel', Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice's Aqua-sampling collaboration 'Barbie World', and Charli XCX's 'Speed Drive'.

South Korean girl group released their song 'Barbie Dreams' just hours after Eilish's announcement, whilst Lizzo, Tame Impala and Ava Max are among the music stars with songs still set to drop, as well as a few unannounced names.

Oh, and Ryan Gosling has a song too.

Barbie will be released in cinemas on July 21.
