On Wednesday morning, the Big Ten announced a slight schedule change for two teams in the conference.

Initially, the Nebraska Cornhuskers were scheduled to play the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey on October 8. That won’t be happening any more.

Instead, Rutgers will play host to Nebraska the night before. That’s right, the Scarlet Knights and Huskers will face off on a Friday night.

Nebraska announced the change with a message on Twitter.

So what the reason for change? Well, according to Nebraska insider Sean Callahan, it’s for TV purposes.

Here’s more from Husker Online:

The Big Ten announced on Wednesday the two teams will again play on a Friday. NU’s Oct. 8 game in SHI Stadium has been moved up to a Friday night for TV purposes. The official kickoff time will not be known until the television network is decided.

Friday night college football games were introduced in controversial fashion to the Big Ten. Some fans complained that Friday nights should be left open for high school football.

Regardless, Nebraska and Rutgers will be highlighted on a Friday night in early October.
