Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco was "about to give birth" while filming new show

The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco has revealed that she was "about to give birth" while filming her new show, Based on a True Story.

The Peacock comedy pokes fun at America's obsession with true crime, as realtor Ava (Cuoco) and her former tennis star husband Nathan (Chris Messina) team up with a plumber (Tom Bateman) to capitalise on the trend.

Speaking to USA Today about the show, Cuoco revealed that she was nine months pregnant towards the end of filming and often had to have her stunt double step in.

"I had to be on my feet a lot. It was a lot. And by the end, I was nine months pregnant," she explained.

"So the fight scene at the end near the grave — the fantasy — a lot of that was done by my double because it was like I was literally about to give birth, like, any second."

The actress also revealed that her body double wore a pregnant belly prosthetic and stood in for Ava's sexual fantasy scenes, saying: "I don't roll that way. I need someone else to do that stuff. I'm past that. I'm not doing that anymore.

"Also, who wants to see that? Not my thing. I'd rather let someone else do it, and that's what's movie magic [is for]. We don't have to do those things anymore."

Cuoco and her partner Tom Pelphrey announced the birth of their daughter, Matilda Carmine Richie Pelphrey, in April.

"We are overjoyed and grateful for this little miracle. Thank you to the doctors, nurses, family and friends who have helped us immensely over the last few days," Cuoco wrote on Instagram at the time.

"We are blessed beyond belief. @tommypelphrey I didn't think I could fall even more in love with you, but I did."
