How Big 12 Schools Reportedly Feel About Texas, Oklahoma After SEC Move

As surprising as the news of Oklahoma and Texas eyeing an exit from the Big 12 to join the SEC was for most of us, the other eight Big 12 schools are equally shocked.

According to Max Olson of The Athletic, the other Big 12 schools are not at all amused by what Oklahoma and Texas have done. Olson said that the overwhelming sentiment has schools “pissed at Texas and disappointed in Oklahoma.”

It’s not hard to see why. While Oklahoma has clearly proven to be the big fish in their relatively smaller pond, some of Texas’ biggest in-state rivals are in the Big 12, and the Longhorns are basically leaving them behind.

Oklahoma and Texas leaving does more than reduce the size of the conference to eight – the lowest in FBS. They are the two biggest football programs – and money makers – in the conference. Their impending departure will all but certainly kill the rest of the conference.

The end result of Oklahoma and Texas leaving is the remaining eight Big 12 members practically scrambling to find new homes.

Kansas is reportedly trying to push for membership in the Big Ten, with Iowa State also hoping to join them. Several more schools are checking to see if the Pac-12 has membership spots available too.

The college sports world is about to undergo one of the biggest realignments in history. Love it or hate it, it’s coming.

And some of the schools left without a paddle are going to be fuming for years over it.
