Big 12 fans loved seeing SEC-bound Oklahoma and Texas both lose on the same day
More than a few Big 12 fans can tell you why July 1, 2025 is significant.
It’s the day Texas and Oklahoma officially will leave the Big 12 Conference for the Southeastern Conference. Although Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark has indicated he would prefer those schools depart before July 1, 2025, it likely won’t happen.
For now, fans of the other eight Big 12 schools will simply hope for more days like Saturday when the Longhorns lost in overtime to Texas Tech and the Sooners were beaten by Kansas State in Norman, Oklahoma.
Fans on Twitter exulted at the two defeats. Here is a bit of what was being said.
UT and OU lose to smaller rival Big 12 programs. What a perfect day for the Big 12.

I really need WVU to step their game up so OU and UT can be at the bottom of the Big 12.

I thought the big 12 competition level was holding OU & UT back. Looks like they are actually hold the big 12 back

Not a good day for the “big dogs” eh? 0-2 vs the Big 12. Texas and OU headed to the SEC like… pic.twitter.com/cRhpKCfLCC

OU and Texas go 0-2 this weekend in the Big 12. Love it!

Love it! I will always root for Big-12 and traditions over the schools chasing money. Especially, when the schools already pretty much have unlimited resources, anyways.

Love seeing the departing OU and Texas losing in the Big 12. Need the new Big 12 teams to dominate for the next 3 years. Hopefully @CowboyFB and @BUFootball and @KStateFB dominate this year. https://t.co/9VeSHvR65X

K-State and KU at the top of the Big 12, while Texas and OU are at the bottom. Hell. Yeah.
