New 'Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F' trailer features Detroit police car, snowplow

Sure, Detroit is featured in the new trailer for "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F" that arrived Thursday morning. After all, it's the hometown of Eddie Murphy's famous detective character.

But while the Los Angeles region where Murphy spends most of his time in the movie is all sunshine and palm trees, the Motor City is ... well, it's depicted in an action scene involving a snowplow and a Detroit cop car.

Clips from the action comedy, which debuts on Netflix on July 3, show Foley mostly wreaking havoc and dropping one-liners in Beverly Hills.

But in a scene set in night-time Detroit, he's careening around the city in a snowplow as Paul Reiser's character, Detective Jeffrey Friedman of the Detroit Police Department, warns him not to damage any city property.

"You're in a snowplow?" asks a desk cop, who's on the phone with Foley as the high-speed chase ensues.

As several police vehicles are hit, Murphy notes, "A lot of blind spots in a snowplow."

The fourth entry in the "Beverly Hills" cop series is anticipated to be one of the big releases of the summer. It joins 1984's "Beverly Hills Cop," 1987's "Beverly Hills Cop II," and 1994's "Beverly Hills Cop III" in Murphy's signature franchise.

In this installment, Foley teams up with a new partner in Beverly Hills (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and his old buddies (Judge Reinhold and John Ashton) after his daughter’s (Taylour Page) life is threatened in connection with a conspiracy.

And don't worry. It's not just snowplows that will represent Detroit. In California's swanky suburb, Murphy is wearing the ultimate fashion statement: his classic Lions jacket.
