Each year The Kansas City Peoples Choice Awards bring together the best and brightest of the KC urban core.

Businesses, nonprofits, entertainers and artists gathered at the Midland Theatre earlier in August to see who wasvoted best in their field by the people of KC. Mayor Quinton Lucas was a presenter and was honored to be a part of one of the biggest nights in the Black community.

“It makes me smile to be the mayor,” he told The Star. “I love seeing the entrepreneurs and talent in our community that is being supported. Today is a day of pure joy and I am happy to be here and see our Black community truly celebrate not just Kansas City but KCK and all around.”
