Epic Games is finally finishing up its weeks of giveaways for the holiday season, and the last surprise under the Christmas tree is a delightful treat for Marvel fans and superhero fans as a whole. From today, right now, you can pick up Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy for absolutely nothing on the Epic Games Store.
Guardians of the Galaxy featured on our list of the best superhero games you can play right now, and for good reason. While games like Gotham Knights and Avengers took a live service-y multiplayer approach to the team-based superhero game, Square Enix – or rather Eidos-Montréal – decided that focusing on single-player gameplay was best, and that was absolutely correct.
Critics and fans alike praised the game for its carefully balanced story and character writing, its solid – if unambitious – combat and gameplay, and the incredible soundtrack by Richard Jacques, who previously worked on games like Jet Set Radio Future, Mess Effect, and Sonic R. It’s not a perfect game by any means, no game is, but it’s a lot of fun, and at the low price of $0.00, it’s absolutely worth picking up.
