Riotous colors and bold tropical prints may have dominated summers past, but if Target has any say, 2024 will be all about understated Americana. At least that’s the overwhelming vibe you’ll get when scoring the store’s home decor aisles. Picture plenty of neutrals with a preppy pop of color or a modern twist—a tan bowl with a cobalt interior, an LED lantern with an exposed bulb and retro stylings. It seems partly influenced by the rise of quiet luxury and tenniscore, resulting in a look that’s more of a “country club aesthetic,” according to one of the brand’s collaborators, designer Shea McGee. Thankfully, though, this is the “Expect more, pay less” chain I’m talking about, so it doesn’t have country club prices to match. In fact, you can score the look for just $10, and I’ll prove it. After scouring the store’s latest collections, here is the best summer decor at Target.

PureWow Editors Tested the Most Comfortable Bedsheets of 2024—Here’s What’s Worth Buying

1. Solar LED Outdoor Orb String Lights with Plastic Rattan Hoods

target

Basic black outdoor string lights have had their moment. These infuse your space with a little more character, thanks to their sun bonnet-esque rattan hoods. Each 25-foot string features 10 solar-powered lights, bringing a subtle glow to your patio or deck.

2. Brass Flower Frog

target

What’s the one thing standing between you and those loose, organic-yet-elevated floral arrangements you see on Pinterest? A few hundred dollars. Or! A flower frog. Use as is or pop into a vase, then slide a few blooms or clippings into each spot in the grid to create an arrangement that rivals the ones you’ve seen. It’s far easier than taping a grid onto the top of a vase—and trying to unstick everything afterward.

3. Ivory and Blue Striped Woven Outdoor Accent Rug

target

Layering door mats hasn’t gone anywhere, and this blue-and-ivory number is just the preppy-meets-coastal base you need to add dimension (and pattern) to a standard coil mat. And if you really love the look, you can also snag a 5-foot by 7-foot version for $80.

4. 22” Faux Lavender Wreath

target

Even if you’re hundreds of miles from your nearest lavender fields, you can bring the vibe of the June-July blooming season home with this surprisingly realistic-looking wreath. At 22 inches wide, it’s just the right size to freshen up your front door (without looking puny).

5. Hearth and Hand with Magnolia Bold Stripe Inflatable Pool

target

A kiddie pool featuring an of-the-moment color combo—Kelly green and cream—and cabana stripes? Now that’s what we call compromise. (Plus, that pale blue interior will make the water look more crystalline, so you can pretend you’re at a five-star resort while your kids shriek and splash around you.)

6. Fruit and Floral Square Indoor/Outdoor Pillow

target

Muted florals can add an artsy, biophilic quality to an otherwise plain outdoor sofa. Save the cabbage roses and chintz for your grandma’s actual country club.

$25 at Target

7. Cement Gray Outdoor Fire Pit Table

target

We didn’t start the fire…oh wait, we did, because roasting s’mores is so much easier when you’re gathered ‘round this propane-fueled number. (Psst: The cover for it is included.)

$400 at Target

8. Outdoor Patio Propane Tank Cover

target

As handy as it is to have a propane-powered fire pit, the tank that accompanies it can be an eyesore at best. Leave it to Joanna Gaines’s team to design something modern that won’t dampen your aesthetic—while protecting said tank from the elements.

9. Retro Portable AM/FM Bluetooth Radio

target

Available in tonal green or orange, this rechargeable, Bluetooth-connectable radio features the latest technology to stream Beyonce or Taylor Swift’s latest albums, yet does so with throwback styling that harkens back to the Greatest generation’s jams.

$45 at Target

10. Natural Wicker Table Lamp

target

The crisp pleats on the lampshade echo the tenniscore trend; the wicker is classic coastal. By marrying the two, you’ve got a timeless take on one of the year’s hottest trends. Just note that you may need an extension cord if you’re planning on running it farther than the included 5-foot-long cable allows.

11. Hilton Carter for Target Black Steel Watering Can

target

You might actually remember to water your plants when you have this eye-catching design close at hand. Not much of a gardener? Pop some fresh-cut (Trader Joe’s) flowers in it and use it as a vase.

12. Velvet Beige Wingarm Accent Chair

target

OK, OK, nobody trades out their accent chairs with the seasons, but if you’re in the market for something that feels as light and airy as a June breeze but is cozy enough to curl up in year-round, you’ve found it. The wing-style armrests give this seat a more luxe look than its $360 price tag suggests.

13. Villa Burnout White Shower Curtain

target

If your style skews a bit more boho, don’t scroll past this shower curtain. It has an abstract floral pattern and fun fringe details along the bottom, yet its solid white design keeps things understated. That way it works with just about any bathroom decor (or tile patterns). Plus, the fabric is OEKO-TEX certified, so you can smell your shampoo hat everything shower without concerns of your new curtain emitting any harsh chemicals.

$20 at Target

14. Portable Outdoor LED Lantern

target

It has all the charm of an old-school lantern, only this LED number is rechargeable and features a dimmer, so you can create just the right ambience while you dine alfresco this summer.

$40 at Target

15. Brightroom Woven Bamboo Basket

target

When guests are coming over, you don’t have time for a Marie Kondo-caliber tidying festival. Just shove things in baskets and no one’s the wiser…until you have to figure out what you did with the remote. Bonus: Even with the handles, you should be able to pop them into 13-inch cube organizer shelves.
