We'll be honest with you. Finding truly great sports bras with pockets was a tough task, especially since most of our go-to workout clothing brands don't make them. But lucky for you, we searched scoured the market and came back with a handful of sports bras with pockets that fit well, and offered plenty of storage.

However, some forward-thinking labels like Fabletics offer multiple slots that are big enough to contain your phone, card holder, and jewelry at the same time. While we found some bras that contained side and front pockets, they weren't actually big enough to hold anything substantial.

Support

Most of the sports bra we feature are made for keeping your girls in place during high-impact activities. That means they have tons of support, which comes in the form of encapsulation and compression. The former refers to contoured cups that cradle each breast, while the latter holds both girls from moving.

For added support, you'll want to find bras with thicker, wider straps, since they can also keep your pockets and belongings from moving around. As far as activity level is concerned, a medium support bra is a good place to start for activities like walking or pilates. If you’re more of a serious athlete, look for a high impact bra that offers more compression and encapsulation.

Sizing

As a general rule of thumb: underwear labeled S, M, L, and XL isn't as precise as prices as bras with actual cup sizes. Based on our testing, we found that sports bras that contain both cup and band sizes offered the most tailored fit, which means you'll less likely have to return it.

Fabric

Chances are, you'll probably be working up a sweat in a sports bra. That's why you should stick to underwear made from synthetic materials that dry quickly, and are breathable. In general, we recommend buying bras that are made with moisture-wicking fabrics like nylon and rayon. For extra comfort, look for bras made with elastane or spandex, which provide extra stretch.

As WH editors, we test and wear sports bras all the time. For this story, our testing team—which includes WH Fitness Editor Talene Appleton, NASM, and Associate Fashion Commerce Editor Lily Wohlner—tried more than a dozen sports bras with pockets and put them through the paces (think: Pilates, HIIT, weekend errands). After extensive testing, Fabletics' high-impact sports bra came out on top for it secure-but-cozy fit, and impressive triple-pocket storage system. Fun fact: The brand’s trinity pocket leggings were such a fan favorite that they took that same technology and created this bra of the same name. Like the leggings, the Trinity High Impact Sports Bra features a slated triple-pocket design along the back. After using this for more than a month, we can safety say that it keeps multiple essentials like your phone, ID, and a credit card in place at the same time.

While the Trinity isn't as supportive as the Fabletics' No-Bounce Bra—which we named one of the best high-impact sports bras—it does offer ample compression, and kept our girls in place during most exercises. It contains elastane, which makes this incredibly stretchy and moves like a second skin. We also like the high-neck design that offers added coverage and support for bigger chested women. Speaking of which, we appreciate the fact that it comes in a wide range of sizes, and goes up to 4XL. The only downside is that because it's so snug, it can be a bit of a challenge to put on.

Drive Three-Pocket Run Bra

This high-impact support bra has enough coverage that I've worn this as a top on hot days. It features two convenient mesh pockets on each side, under your armpits, which helps keep pit sweats at bay. These smaller pockets can also hold smaller items like jewelry or Airpods, while a larger pocket on the back, between the shoulder blades, is big enough to hold your phone. Even better, the pocket features a no-bounce back fit that kept my phone in place even during intense runs.

The fit is comfortable without being too tight or compressive. It’s made with bonded seams that do a great job of preventing chafing. I like the wide range of cup sizing options that go up to E cups and band sizes, which result in a more custom fit than other bras on this list. Brooks also has a generous 90 day return policy, in the rare case that you don't love it.

NB Sleek Medium Support Pocket Sports Bra

Sports bras aren't just about function, we also want them to look sleek. Enter this pick from New Balance, which has a monochrome, minimalist design that looks great with just about any athleisure fit. We also like the unique lower neckline, which just looks super chic. It has one breathable mesh pocket along the back that has more than enough storage for an iPhone.

It's made with polyester, so it's not the most breathable fabric on this list, but we think it's light enough to wear during shoulder season. Plus, its spandex blend comfortably hugs your shape, and the stretchy band along the rib cage is super comfortable, and adds another layer of visual interest. We like to wear this during moderate activities like Yoga and walking, but because it only has medium compression, it might not be a great pick for long runs or HIIT.

Medium Support Sports Bra

Just like leggings, sports bras can get pretty pricey. For a bargain pick, we recommend this one from Queenieke. It has a racerback panel to store your phone and headphones, and even has a handy double-flap enclosure to keep your belongings from escaping. While it's billed as a medium support bra, I did find that it had enough compression to get me through short runs, which is very impressive given its price point.

It also scores big on the fit. Our testers found that it's not tight like other bargain bras, and has a snug-but-comfy fit. We also love that it comes in 30 (!!!) colors, so you're bound to find one that matches your style.

Sarah Sports Bra

When it comes to activewear, we always keep comfort top of mind. If you want an incredibly cozy sports bra, we recommend this one from Senita Athletics. It contains the most spandex out of all the bras on this list, and it shows in the fit. I found the fabric to feel incredibly luxe, and truly moved with me like a second skin during my Pilates classes. I also love the flat, chafe-resistant seams. After wearing this all day one afternoon, I hardly noticed I was even wearing a sports bra. That's how comfortable it truly is. In terms of the storage, the Sarah Sports Bra has the largest back pocket we've seen. We have to note, this bra has the least amount of support out of all the picks on this list, so we don't recommend this for high-impact workouts.
