The historic property, located in a quiet neighborhood that is walking distance from Amagansett's Main Street, opened in 2009. "It has always been a hidden gem in the area," the Reform Club's general manager Sam Fox tells T&C. That much is clear from the second you step on the lush grounds of the a luxurious boutique property. Plus, the accommodations and service are nothing short of outstanding—from the stunning collection of contemporary art that adorns the walls of every suite and cottage to the breakfast delivered to your door each morning, it's a perfect place to spend a weekend away.
Ahead of the unofficial start of the summer, Fox answered all our questions about the Reform Club.
What do you consider to be the best room at the property and why?
Willow Cottage (Cottage One) is the best room on property. It is a standalone cottage with vaulted ceilings, a large private yard, private entrance to the property's orchard, and three fireplaces. It is the largest of the accommodations, with one lavish king bedroom on the second floor with views out to the property. There is a private rose garden, vining white roses on the fence line, and a large stone patio with chaise lounge and outdoor fireplace, plus a steam room. Our most discerning repeat guests know to reserve Willow Cottage for its privacy and lavish stylings.
How much does it cost per night?
$3,200 in the summer months.
How would you describe the guests and the vibe at the hotel?
"Luxury in leisure." Our guests know this is the premier hotel in the Hamptons, and they return for their preferred dates, every summer.
What feeling about Amagansett do you hope to impart to guests?
Amagansett and the Hamptons is what you make it. If you want to be chic and trendy, see and be seen, wear your nicest outfit and go out on the town, there's plenty of opportunity. If you want to be a beach bum, we're right down the road from the nicest beaches on the East Coast, so stay in your flip flops. If you want to tour the local farms and farmstands, then get some dirt underneath your fingers. The Reform Club is the perfect home base for any of those options.
What's one thing about the hotel that you think first-time visitors will find surprising?
How large and lush the grounds and gardens are, and how private and quiet it is on property—away from the hubbub of Hamptons in peak summer.
