You may have read somewhere that Puerto Rico is the new Palm Beach for the cryptocurrency world, especially the tony enclave of Dorado. But there's so much more to explore beyond the confines of the Ritz-Carlton Reserve on the island of enchantment. The historic capital of San Juan alone is chock-full of hidden gems like the restaurants La Casita Blanca and La Alcapurria Quemá, and about an hour outside of the city, there's an incredible spot called Casa Bavaria that serves Boricua and German food. And if you've visited the Whitney Museum's sensational exhibit, "No existe un mundo poshuracán," you know there's a major art scene out of San Juan, too—anchored by galleries like Embajada and Walter Otero—that's just now receiving the attention it deserves. The city boasts a handful of terrific legacy properties, but an upstart on the scene turned up two years ago with the Condado Ocean Club. Here, general manager Carlo Chávez shares why the hotel resonates with young travelers, the property's strategic location, and the fastest way to "retox" in Puerto Rico.

Guests should ask about Condado Ocean Club’s lineup of rotating poolside DJs. Each weekend, guests can mingle at the pool deck while sipping cocktails and enjoying live sets from local DJs or artists.

Directly across from our location, the Laguna de Condado, is perfect for kayaking or paddle-boarding, both of which you can do by day or night. There are many shops within walking distance on Ashford Avenue, but we love to recommend Wild Side Boutique located right in our lobby. Likewise, there are several eateries on the strip, ranging from casual to fine dining. Sandbox is our ocean front beach bar, just steps next door. We offer a great selection of tapas and cocktails.

What’s in store for 2023?

We are excited to share the launch of our newest food and beverage concept, Detox, which opened in January and serves healthy grab-and-go breakfast items alongside Puerto Rico’s finest specialty coffee, fresh custom pressed juices and detox shots, as well as spiked morning java or juice for guests looking to “retox.”
