In 1711, Queen Anne founded Royal Ascot, the annual horse-racing event, and since, it has remained a staple on the British royal family's annual calendar. The Royal Ascot has a strict dress code: men must wear "a full morning suit with waistcoat and either a black or grey top hat at all times," and women need to wear hats, and dresses that cover their shoulders. The royals even have to wear name tags.
The event was historically a favorite of Queen Elizabeth's, and this is the first year the royals will attend without their late matriarch. On day one, King Charles and Queen Camilla attended, along with many other royals and members of Camilla's family, including Princess Anne and Camilla's sister Annabel Elliot. Day Three: June 22, 2023
King Charles and Queen Camilla led the procession for a third day in a row!
An overhead view of their carriage; they rode with Princess Margaret's son, Earl of Snowdon, who is King Charles's first cousin.
Princess Anne, too, marked her third day of attendance.
In the Princess Royal's carriage included her husband Timothy Laurence, Qatari royal Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani, and King Charles's former equerry Lord Soames of Fletching.
Princess Anne's daughter, Zara (left, in white), was also at the Royal Ascot for the third day in a row.
Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh attended the Royal Ascot day three with her 92-year-old father Christopher Rhys Jones.
He carried a pair of binoculars.
Sophie wore a summery white floral dress by Suzannah and a pale blue hat.

For Ladies Day, Camilla wore a pale green chiffon dress by Anna Valentine and a hat by Philip Treacy (for the third day in a row!). She also accessorized with a diamond brooch that belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth.
King Charles and Queen Camilla watched closely after the King's horse, Desert Hero, ridden by Tom Marquand wins the King George V Stakes.

Day Two: June 21, 2023
Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh looked lovely on the second day of the Royal Ascot.
For the day two, King Charles III and Queen Camilla once again led the carriage procession.
Queen Camilla chose a pale pink coat dress by Anna Valentine for day two, and another Philip Treacy hat.
Zara and Mike Tindall were in attendance once again. They're pictured here with Maureen Haggas.
Zara's green hat was a sculptural masterpiece.
She laughed with her husband as they rode in the cariages.
Prince Edward wore the same tie he's been wearing to the Royal Ascot for over a decade. (Yes, really!)
Princess Anne was in a blue and white look.
The Royal Ascot was always Queen Elizabeth's favorite event, but King Charles seems to be enjoying it just as much.
Camilla and Sophie walked in side-by-side; the Duchess of Edinburgh carried her go-to Strathberry bag.

Camilla's ex-husband, Andrew Parker Bowles, was in attendance at the Royal Ascot.

Timothy Laurence and Mike Tindall watched the races together.
Princess Alexandra's granddaughter Zenouska Mowatt was there, too.
Day One: June 20, 2023
King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived in the first carriage for the first day of the Royal Ascot.

The King and Queen were joined by Charles Wellesley, the 9th Duke of Wellington and Princess Antonia, the Duchess of Wellington.
Princess Anne rode alongside Camilla's sister, Annabel.
Charles carried an umbrella as they walked to the royal enclosure.
Also in attendance on day one was Princess Anne's daughter, Zara Tindall, wearing a green floral dress.
She arrived with her husband Mike Tindall.
Camilla's nephew, Ben Elliot, joined his mom at the Royal Ascot.
He arrived in the carriages with his wife, Mary-Clare Elliot.
King Charles looked happy to be in attendance at the Royal Ascot.
The King chatted with his niece, Zara, and her husband, Mike.
Princess Anne's son, Peter Phillips (right), was in attendance alongside his girlfriend, Lindsay Wallace.
This is Wallace's second Royal Ascot attending with the royal family. She also appeared last year.
Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi (back to the camera) were also spotted at day one of the Royal Ascot; Princess Beatrice chose a dramatic pink headband.
Charles and Camilla were focused as they watched the horse races.
They were joined by Camilla's son, Tom Parker Bowles.
