Another corporate merger has television streamers meme-ing their outrage.

There’s a credible industry rumor floating around that Warner Bros. Discovery, the result of a merger between Warner Bros. and Discovery last April, is cleaning house at HBO Max.

The company allegedly has plans to fold HBO Max, a beloved streaming service, into the less popular Discovery+ service. To complicate matters more, Discovery+ is said to be moving away from scripted original content and focusing more on reality TV.

Many speculate this will place every HBO Max scripted series in jeopardy. Shows like Our Flag Means Death, The Sex Lives of College Girls, Hacks and Doom Patrol could be canceled. People are perplexed by the decision given that HBO Max has 76.8 million global subscribers while Discovery+ only has 22 million, according to Hollywood Reporter.

The new streaming app is set to launch in the summer of 2023 in the U.S. — so we’ll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, Twitter shared their thoughts on the merger via hilarious memes.

“HBO Max folding into Discovery+ after getting 104 Emmy nominations this year would be the dumbest s*** I ever seen in my life,” @big_business_ wrote on Twitter.

“The burning of the modern library of Alexandria,” @mattdilfon said, showing a list of HBO Max shows deemed “safe” and “not safe.”

“Grabbing my favorite HBO Max shows under my arm and thrusting them at HBO, begging it to take them like I’m a father trying to get his kids off the titanic,” @brokebackstan said in a Tweet.

“Why they saying HBO Max finna turn into Animal Planet?” @keyon joked on Twitter.

Other users mocked a Venn Diagram that was circulating that argued in favor of the merger.
