The Best Mario Day Deals: Game Discounts, My Nintendo Rewards and More

Every year Nintendo celebrates the legacy of our favorite plumber in video games with Mario Day on March 10. Called MAR10 Day, Nintendo discounts many of its Mario games on the eShop, and this year is no exception. With so many games to choose from, Nintendo has thankfully started the sale early, letting you buy them for cheap until March 17.

Here are some of the best deals during the Mario Day sale.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - $39.99 (33% off)

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe brings together all of the previously released DLC for the Wii game in a single package. Nintendo has supported the game for many years since its release, and it will be hard for the next game to beat the value this one provides. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available for $39.99 on the eShop, a fair price for one of the best arcade kart racers on the market.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 - $39.99 (33% off)

Time to get spooky! The Luigi's Mansion franchise provides a distinct gaming experience from the rest of his brother's adventures, placing the focus on atmospheric storytelling. Luigi's Mansion 3 perfects the formula with fun puzzles and an exciting 8-player co-op mode.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle - $13.99 (65% off)

The first crossover between Mario and Ubisoft's Rabbids franchise, Kingdom Battle was a welcome surprise that no one expected to be as good as it ended up being. The tactics game combined the aesthetics of both franchises perfectly, making for a refreshing experience in the genre. It's a charming, vibrant game that is the perfect introduction to the turn-based tactics genre for newcomers.

Mario Golf: Super Rush - $39.99 (33% off)

It's golf with Mario. If there was one thing that could make me excited for golf, it's a cartoony Italian plumber. Mario Golf may look cute but its gameplay will take you dozens of hours to master. The Speed Golf mode will have you rushing through the field to get to your next strike, adding a fun twist to a usually slow game. The Gold Adventure mode is a little underwhelming though, so keep your expectations in check.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 - $23.99 (60% off)

This is a weird one. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 was the last major Mario/Sonic crossover, and it left a little bit to be desired. While the game itself is fine, comprised of plenty of minigames, the overall breadth of content in the game was lacking, with many feeling the game was not worth its full price. Thankfully, it's an easier pill to swallow with the price being cheap now. A demo is also available on the eShop, so go ahead and try it out before buying it.

Mario Day Sale: Nintendo Switch Online Free Trial

Beyond deals on games, Nintendo is also giving away a 14-day trial for Nintendo Switch Online for free. All you have to do is unlock the code from the official website and then redeem it on the eShop. Do note though that an active payment method will be required to be tied to your account at the time of redemption. After the trial period ends, it will automatically convert to a one-month NSO subscription membership.

If you want to avoid that, then turn off the auto-renew option after redeeming the code. The trial offer is only available in select countries - the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Argentina.

After getting NSO, you'll be able to play classic NES games such as Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario World for free on the Switch. Users can also redeem platinum points for classic Mario icon elements. The platinum points can also be used to redeem physical rewards, such as the My Nintendo Mario Zipper Pouch and Super Mario Removable Tech Stickers.

Mario Day Sale: My Nintendo Rewards and Other Deals

There are also plenty of other deals across the Nintendo Store and other retailers. For starters, you can get many Switch accessories and Mario LEGO sets for cheap from Amazon and other participating retailers. Those purchasing a Switch console from participating retailers will also get a $25 gift card.

Nintendo is also holding sweepstakes through its My Nintendo program, with the LEGO Super Mario Sweepstakes, where participants have a chance to win a trio of LEGO sets featuring Bowser, Dorrie, and Yoshi. There's also the BlackMilk X Super Mario™ - Princess Peach Sweepstakes, which includes a stylish jacket, crop top, and pants inspired by Princess Peach.

Nintendo is also holding a physical meet-and-greet event in New York for Mario Day, where a screening of The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be held. To increase the fun factor, check out the free Super Mario Bros. Movie guidebook that includes tons of easter eggs to the franchise. Besides that, a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tournament will be held live, with the top 310 players getting a thousand My Nintendo Gold Points each.

With a new Nintendo console reportedly on the horizon, we only have a few months with the Switch as it enters its eighth year. While few first-party Nintendo exclusives are releasing this year, the Mario Day sale is great for relative newcomers who want to experience a blast from the past.
